To continue with this week's theme of how to choose a high-quality contractor, today we're going to discuss an organization that's not just for our business as a whole, but for the people we employ. It's called NATE and it's a crucial thing to look for in the technicians that service your HVAC equipment.
Why it is important to hire NATE certified technicians?
NATE certified technicians are the best technicians in the HVAC industry. In order to get certified, they must go through rigorous training and testing and prove that they can service and install HVAC systems according to the latest industry standards. You can see for yourself the differences between the work of unqualified technicians and that of our NATE certified technicians by checking out this video.
What can happen if you don't hire NATE certified technicians?
- Improper installations. One of the worst things that can happen with an unqualified technician is an improper HVAC installation. If your units aren't sized correctly, installed the right way or charged properly, it will waste energy and cost you money both in the short and long term.
- Callbacks. NATE certified technicians are trained to get things right the first time. Often times when you deal with an unqualified technician you will find yourself calling them back to your home just days after they performed a repair. Callbacks rates are significantly lower with NATE certified technicians.
- Unnecessary repairs. If your system isn't installed or maintained the right way, it's bound to break down at some point. Although breakdowns happen from time to time with any system, they will be much more common, and cost you much more money, when you're working with an unqualified technician.
- Shorter system life. You want the investment in your HVAC system to last as long as possible, and NATE certified technicians are trained to do that with their excellent training and service. If you don't have the right people taking care of your units, it could take years off of the operating lives of your furnace and air conditioner.
