5 Tips for a Winning Air Conditioner Performance This Spring
For many racing fans, May is an exciting month, culminating with the wildly anticipated Indianapolis 500 on May 26. And it got us thinking: What does it take to make those Indy Cars run smoothly each racing season? Plenty! We’re pretty sure it takes lots of maintenance, elbow grease, and a few filter changes—much like the preparation involved in spring air conditioning maintenance.
So let’s shift gears and talk about your summer AC tune-up. Is your home prepared? After all, summer is just around the corner! And if you want to avoid AC repair in St. Charles County, MO, later on in the hot and sweaty season, now is the time to get things revved up and ready to go!
Here are five ways you can improve the performance of your AC system this season:
Clean or change your air filters. This is probably the easiest thing for every homeowner to do! Change your air filters regularly or clean them if you have washable filters. The cleaner your filters, the less work your system has to do to keep your home cool.
Check your lines. Inspect your refrigerant lines—these pipes are typically wrapped in insulation and look like a pool noodle. If you notice any cracks or disconnections, you can prevent problems by calling Jerry Kelly for a quick fix. If everything looks fine, you’re good for another season.
Inspect that outside unit. The effects of a long winter can take a toll on your outdoor unit. Check for nests, twigs, grass, weeds, or other debris that could be wrapped around the outside unit. Cleaning away debris that has accumulated over the winter months will help your system run more efficiently.
Clean those vents and ducts. Take a vacuum to those return vents and remove any dust bunnies that have taken over. You might consider professional duct cleaning, too. Clean ducts allow an AC system to run at top efficiency and cut back on air pollutants that make their way into your home.
Get a tune-up. By far the most effective way to cut back on summer repairs is to get a spring tune-up now from your friends at Jerry Kelly! Our experienced technicians will thoroughly clean your condenser coils, lubricate moving parts, evaluate refrigerant levels, calibrate your thermostat, tighten electrical connections, inspect ductwork, and more!

Our technician, Justin F was very thorough and took time to answer any questions I had plus offered some recommendations without high pressure, just for consideration. Very professional & prompt too
Was very informative about proper filers for the furnace. Very thorough with checks on all components. Checked thermostat and checked cooling system. Very friendly and easy to talk to about our system. Gave me pricing on filters. Cleaned and examined our A/c unit. Very professional and very knowledgeable. This young man is a great person and asset to your company!
Pros: Travis that came to our house was kind and easy to work with. They were able to come out quickly and were efficient.Cons: We were quoted $26,000 to replace our AC and furnace. We thought that sounded very high and got a second opinion. The second company quoted us $14,500. I know there will be varying costs between companies, but an almost $12,000 difference is insane. The 26k quote was not for any high end units.Jerry Kelly was easy to work with, but if pricing is astronomical. Therefore, I would not recommend them.
Justin came out today and checked over my A/C. He was very thorough and efficient discovering a leak in the coils and Freon loss. He immediately scheduled a replacement appointment to correct the problem. His professional experience and conscientiousness is an asset to Jerry Kelly.
Greg was on time and very professional. He was courteous by providing me with a call prior to his arrival.Greg went right to work on troubleshooting my furnace (which was short cycling and not heating). When Greg was finished with the troubleshooting, he found me and was up front on the cause of the issue, including the cost to fix it.Greg went right to work to resolve the problem quickly and efficiently. He even cleaned up the unit and then tuned up my AC so its ready for the summer.Excellent service and communication.Thank you Greg, and Jerry Kelly.
Arrived on time, put on booties to protect my floors, was very professional and explained what he was doing and recommend for my system. Although recommend things, did not pressure into a sales call.
